MP Hennadiy Moskal of the propresidential Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defence faction has said that he is going to sue the acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Valentyn Nalyvaychenko, for defamation, the press service of the People's Self-Defence civil movement has said. Nalyvaychenko said that the Security Service of Ukraine has documentary facts of Moskal's corrupt activities in connection with the illegal granting of the status of war veterans to officials.
"The Prosecutor-General's Office has had the materials mentioned by Nalyvaychenko for a long time, and it unequivocally refused to open a criminal case. If the acting head of the SBU is so keen on digging around in old rubbish, why should it become a point of interest for all law-enforcement agencies in the country?" Moskal said commenting on Nalyvaychenko's statement. "I will give all answers to questions when I return from leave to Kyiv. I will hold a news conference and will sue Nalyvaychenko for defamation," Moskal added. "Talking about reproaches for granting the status of war veterans, I would like to recall that according to legislation this status is granted by military commissariats. Mr Nalyvaychenko should rather inquire about our MPs and officials who did not serve a single day in the army, let alone participate in military operations. I would recommend that he start from Bankova Street (where the presidential secretariat is located)," he noted. Moskal is a member of the Self-Defence civil movement. |
