The Ukrainian Parliament today adopted the law on the Judicial system and the status of judges (No 6450) in the second and final readings at its evening sitting . A total of 260 MPs voted in favor. The bill was tabled by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has submitted to Parliament a bill on the ratification of the Ukrainian-Russian state border demarcation agreement. The bill was registered on the official website of the Ukrainian Parliament today. The text of the bill is not on the website yet.

The parliamentary opposition today failed to dismiss Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko from his post. A total of 157 MPs voted in favor of a resolution tabled by MP Roman Zvarych. Only MPs of the opposition Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (122) and Our Ukraine People's Self-Defence Bloc (35) voted to dismiss Boyko.

Parliament postpones approval of changes to Budget Code till Thursday |

The Ukrainian Parliament has voted to postpone consideration of amendments to the Budget Code till July 8, when a vote on the code in its second reading is set to be held. A total of 257 MPs voted in favor of postponement at the evening plenary sitting on July 6. Parliament had earlier spent around five hours discussing and voting on all 671 amendments to the Budget Code though only a handful of amendments were actually adopted.

Parliament ratifies convention on protection of personal data |

The Ukrainian Parliament today ratified the Council of Europe's Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data and an additional protocol to the Convention regarding supervisory authorities and trans-border data flows. A total of 317 MPs out of 426 registered in Parliament voted in favor. Ratification of the Convention and protocol will help secure the right of every individual, whatever his nationality or residence, with regard to the protection of personal data.

Opposition asks IMF not to grant new loan until Parliament adopts ruling |

The shadow cabinet has approved the text of a letter to the International Monetary Fund in which it warns the IMF's executive board against granting Ukraine a new loan until the Ukrainian Parliament has taken a decision which would make it impossible to use the loan for payment to RosUkrEnergo. The text of the letter was approved at a meeting of the shadow cabinet in Kyiv today.

Ruling Party of Regions wants to revoke law limiting presidential powers |

The pro-presidential Party of Regions has revealed its intention to revoke the political reform which curtailed presidential powers, 5 Kanal TV reported today. The leader of the party’s parliamentary faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, said that his political force was going to correct the consequences of the constitutional amendments adopted in 2004.
