PDP II held seminar in Kryvyi Rig on equal gender rights and opportunities mainstreaming in activities of local authorities PDF Print E-mail

PDP II conducted a seminar on May 19 on integration of the principle of equal gender rights and opportunities in the activities of local authorities for representatives of local government agencies and NGOs in Kryvyi Rig.

 

Participants of the seminar heard presentations on the law and public policy as the main areas of gender integration in local development programs and the comprehensive approach to the implementation of gender policy. They also analyzed in detail the National Program of Gender Equality, the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and its Optional Protocol, the Law on Equal Gender Opportunities.

The training was facilitated by Olena Suslova, PDP II Gender Activity Manager, and Natalia Kostiuk, Director of the Family Center in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv.

In November 2011 the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons” which went into effect on October 15, 2011 as well as related revised articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Violations.
