Speaker Lytvyn opens seventh session of current convocation PDF Print E-mail

Ukrainian parliamentary speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn today opened the seventh session of the current sixth convocation of Parliament. President Viktor Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and senior judges as well as foreign guests were present.

A total of 399 MPs were registered as present. Speaker Lytvyn said that this was the first occasion in several years that the country's president took part in the opening of Parliament after the summer recess.

Yanukovych, Azarov and Lytvyn all made short speeches. Opposition politician Yulia Tymoshenko had urged supporters of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and other opposition political forces to protest against the authorities by holding a rally outside Parliament today.

Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons”

In November 2011 the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons” which went into effect on October 15, 2011 as well as related revised articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Violations.
