The Ukrainian Parliament today postponed consideration of a bill on national referendums until its next session this autumn. A total of 368 MPs voted in favor of this decision at this morning's plenary sitting. Parliament decided that the bill would be considered during the first plenary week of its next session in September.
Parliament adopted the bill (No 6278) on national referendums in its first reading on June 3 and was supported by 250 MPs. It stipulates the issues which can be put to a nationwide referendum. However, yesterday and today Parliament spent hours considering several hundred amendments out of a total of 1,228 tabled to the law at the second reading stage.
The next session, the seventh of the current sixth convocation, is scheduled to start on September 7.
