The parliamentary opposition today failed to dismiss Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko from his post. A total of 157 MPs voted in favor of a resolution tabled by MP Roman Zvarych. Only MPs of the opposition Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (122) and Our Ukraine People's Self-Defence Bloc (35) voted to dismiss Boyko.
The opposition argued that Boyko failed to protect national interests at the Stockholm Arbitration Court in a recent case brought by Swiss-based energy intermediary RosUkrEnergo, thereby leading to losses for the Ukrainian state.
