Parliament postpones approval of changes to Budget Code till Thursday PDF Print E-mail

The Ukrainian Parliament has voted to postpone consideration of amendments to the Budget Code till July 8, when a vote on the code in its second reading is set to be held. A total of 257 MPs voted in favor of postponement at the evening plenary sitting on July 6. Parliament had earlier spent around five hours discussing and voting on all 671 amendments to the Budget Code though only a handful of amendments were actually adopted.

 

Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said that the postponement was necessary "so that the sectoral committee and the Main Scientific and Expert Directorate (of Parliament) carefully analyze what we actually have as the result of consideration". The Budget Code was adopted in its first reading on June 17.

In November 2011 the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons” which went into effect on October 15, 2011 as well as related revised articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Violations.
