Ruling Party of Regions wants to revoke law limiting presidential powers PDF Print E-mail

The pro-presidential Party of Regions has revealed its intention to revoke the political reform which curtailed presidential powers, 5 Kanal TV reported today. The leader of the party’s parliamentary faction, Oleksandr Yefremov, said that his political force was going to correct the consequences of the constitutional amendments adopted in 2004.

 

Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych said recently that the possibility of revocation of the reforms could not be ruled out and added that a referendum on the issue could be held.

In November 2011 the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons” which went into effect on October 15, 2011 as well as related revised articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Violations.
