PRESENTATION OF THREE PROJECTS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF NATIONAL DEPUTIES OF UKRAINE PDF Print E-mail

The Association of National Deputies of Ukraine and the Parliamentary Development Project for Ukraine presented three joint projects at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on February 24, 2012:

  • The publication of the two-volume The Story of Ukraine’s Declaration of Independence
  • The website of the Association of Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine www.andu.org.ua
  • the Documentary Project “Ukraine 20/21” a series of 20 video interviews reflecting on 20 years of Ukraine’s independence, the role of parliament, and the responsibilities of policy makers and citizens.

President of the Association of National Deputies of Ukraine (ANDU) Oleksandr Kostiuk, Deputy Secretary General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Markov, and PDP II Director Eleanor Valentine opened the event.

ANDU Vice President Oleksandr Barabash presented the two-volume The Story of Ukraine’s Declaration of Independence which includes documentary sources, reflections of those participating in the process, and photographs in three periods: the period leading up to the declaration of independence, the events of August 24, and the first year of Independence including the referendum of December 1, 1991.

ANDU Vice President Volodymyr Kryzhanivskiy presented the site of the Association which is meant to serve as an ongoing platform for discussion of Ukraine’s parliamentary traditions and current practice.

Film Director Andriy Mikhalyk presented the documentary project “Ukraine 20/21” a series of 20 video interviews recording the memories and contemplations of politicians, academicians, artists and civic activists including: Volodymyr Butkevych, Stefan Havrysh, Simon Gluzman, Mikhail Holubets, Volodymyr Hrinoiv, Lubomyr Huzar, Iryna Kalynets, Volodymyr Kovalenko, Yuri Kostenko, Volodymyr Kryzhanivsky, Hryoriy Kruchkov, Volodymyr Lanoviy, Ella Libanova, Yevhen Marchuk, Oleksandr Pashauer, Myroslav Popovych, Larysa Skoryk, Yuriy Shcherbak, Ihor Yukhnovskiy, and Yaroslav Yatskiv.

Verkhovna Rada National Deputy Ivan Zayets launched the discussion of these efforts of the Association to broaden the knowledge of Ukrainian parliamentarism with the authors of the book and participants in the documentary project.
