The main theme of the first issue in 2011 of the magazine "PERIODICAL PARLIAMENT” - regulation of the legislative process. The article outlines the main approaches to the regulation of certain important aspects for Ukraine's legislative process in EU member states, and the main problems of domestic lawmaking are described and recommendations provided for overcoming them.

This research was supported by a small grant from PDP II. In addition, in this issue the results are published of the monitoring of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the sixth convocation during the sixth and seventh sessions (February 2010 - January 2011), with analysis of trends and an interview with Richard Youngs, the CEO of the International Relations Fund (FRIDE, Spain) on Ukraine’s European prospects (electronic version of interview was published on the Glavcom site – you can read it in Ukrainian at http://glavcom.ua/articles/3235.html).

Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons”

In November 2011 the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption issued printed copies of the new Law of Ukraine “On Trafficking in Persons” which went into effect on October 15, 2011 as well as related revised articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Administrative Violations.
